I love teaching fashion and talking all about Color, Texture, Pattern & Shine. Here she is!! Little baby Carlson is on Her way! We will anticipate a bundle of Joy and love on St. Patty's day! Fun to know that Grandma Pat Ostrom will have her first Grandaughter on St. Patty's day!

It's been a long while since a post and there have been lots of good things happening in our home! Thanks for following and I hope to share life, motherhood and fashionable inspiration as the months follow us into Winter! There are so many fun "research" projects I've had on Baby clothes, products and such...you first time mom's know exactly what I'm talking about. We know what we like...and it's all new to us!

The Nursery inspiration is here! The Dick & Jane fabrics and the Swedish Vintage look give the platform for inspiration for our Swedish Baby Girl's Nursery! I love Hannah Anderson sweaters, tights and cuddle up PJ's..We have had this little sweater in our family. My nephew Emmett wore it on a Christmas that I will never forget! My dear and only sister, Cathi is just the best mom that I have ever known. Truly! It's a Joy to share with her and know that I have the love and support of a fellow sister and mom. We Carlson's are on a new journey and I'm feeling great these days. God is blessing our family with a gift, thanks for reading.

To get wrinkles out of silk, wool, and rayon clothes that can’t take direct heat, place a piece of foil on your ironing board, then lay the garment flat over it. With the steam button down, pass the iron three to four inches over the fabric several times. Wet heat radiating from the foil helps smooth out wrinkles.

I've found designer dresses, shoes, handbags and luggage @ anywhere from T.J. Maxx, Ross, Bloomingdale's, and HauteLook. But just because something is from a high end designer doesn't really mean it's a keeper! Here are some tips on what does:
1. You love it & the Fit is amazing! Many of us buy clothing because it's "cute" and a great price! Some of these items sit in the closet because there is not a thing to wear with it! This is no bargain any more. If you have a great piece in your closet and it's still got the tags on it, never worn..just is a "in lust" piece as I call it...let's talk! We want you to wear and love that piece!
2. Fabric Content: Great pieces are typically of a great fabric content that most likely is dry clean only. These natural and low % of synthetic fibers LAST and are of great quality. Most timeless pieces of my clients are of an amazing shape, cut, fit and timeless piece. Consider modifying your jackets and taking them in to see a tailor for a few "tweeks."
3. We all love a great treat! One of my favorite treats is an amazing find! Recently I bought a new coffee press. This high quality press is amazing, my coffee in the morning is happy because of the quality coffee that is pressed through it, and it's now a valuable piece in my kitchen! SO remember, just because you have treasures and treats in your closet..doesn't mean they are keepers!

Summer is all about travel: going to weddings, visiting family, taking a romantic getaway. Whether your trip involves a cozy bed and breakfast, a bustling metropolis or a drive up the coast, you’re going to need to pack up. It’s annoyingly easy for men: two pairs of pants, a couple shirts, underwear, one pair of shoes, and they’re done. Not so for women – at least, for those of us who want to look and smell nice after a few days living out of the same bag. So how do ya pack smart? I’m going to give you some expert advice on how to maximize your suitcase space while still looking fashionable.

The number one mistake people make when they pack is bringing too much stuff! The Cure for this…bring half of what you think you’d pack!

The average 22-inch suitcase, the largest size you can carry on, typically only fits two pair of pants, three sweaters, two dresses, five shirts, two pair of shoes, various accessories (belts, jewelry, socks), and beauty products.

Krista’s top 10 essential carry-on items…

You may also consider packing a spare pair of undies in case you get to your destination on time, but your bags don’t. While it’s easy to pick up a spare sweatshirt or shorts, panties can be a little harder to come by.

The dry air that’s re-circulated throughout the plane’s cabin can leave your eyes itchy, red and irritated.

Cell Phone Charger
We count on our phones to check reservations, tell loved ones our flight is late, and make backup plans.

iPod or laptop to keep you entertained. What's even better? Rent a movie on your ipod, or listen to new tunes on your cell phone in airplane mode.

If you wear contacts, you may want to pack an extra pair (along with saline) in case your checked luggage goes missing.

Photocopy your driver’s license, vacation itinerary and a phone list of emergency contacts. Tuck a copy of each in both your purse and carry-on bag, in case either gets lost or stolen. After all, if all your cards are missing you can’t look on the back of them for the Web site or phone number.

Outfits to Pack By
The very first thing to do before packing? Confirm your destination’s forecast. “Check the local weather conditions, including the humidity level, before you even touch your clothes

A pair of jeans. Opt for a darker wash; they can be dressed up or down.

One pair of black sandals, one pair of walking shoes. For more shoe options, consider flip-flops (if comfortable) – they’re cute and take up little space.

Mix-and-match," choosing clothes in the same color family. Bring things that can easily move from day to night — dark jeans are a must.

1. First, pack all the heavy items along the bottom of the suitcase. Place belts along the perimeter of the case and heavy items, like a hairdryer or cosmetics case, in the center.

2. Wrap individual shoes in plastic bags to protect your other items from the dirty soles. If you’re taking high heels, stuff each one in a sock or shower cap after wrapping them. Place shoes near the bottom hinges of the suitcase.

3. Small, soft items that won’t wrinkle, like socks and underwear, go in the corners.
Fold your slacks along their natural creases and place the waistband against one edge of your suitcase with the bottom of the pant extending over the opposite edge of the suitcase. Place the second pair of slacks in the same method in the opposite direction. Continue doing this along the length of the suitcase with your blouses and dresses as well.

4. Fold your knits separately, and then roll each one into a bundle. The tighter you roll you them, the less they’ll wrinkle. Place them on top of the layered clothing.

5. Now bring the ends of the layered clothing up and over the rolled items inside the case, alternating sides as you go.

Instead of bulky pajamas, carry a light nightgown. Wear your favorite pair of jeans in the car or on the plane, and pack a second pair of pants or a skirt or dress.

Pack one pair of comfortable, versatile shoes, such as flat sandals, that will work for day and night. If you have a more formal evening event planned, pack one pair of dress shoes. Place shoes in a plastic bag, so they don’t get your clothes dirty.

Finally, bring a couple of pieces of jewelry and a scarf or other accessory that will dress up your outfits for evening.

Zipping your clothes into compressing bags reduces their volume by 80 percent. That's a lot of saved space

The Container Store’s clear zippered envelope, which is waterproof to control spills. They come in a variety of sizes; the “J” product is quart-sized ($2.99). And Target sells 3-ounce plastic bottles, as do beauty supply stores.

Your beauty products will be easiest to use if you group similar products together. Fill one bag with hair products, one with skin-related products, and one with cosmetics.

Avoid bringing bottles that are filled all the way to the top, because the pressure on the plane may cause them to overflow. Instead, fill those only three-quarters of the way.

Finally, your hairbrush can catch on clothes and snag them. Cover the head with a sock before stashing it in your suitcase.

Winter to Spring........

Are you wondering if it will be 80 or 40 today? It's amazing to go from a beautiful sunny day to rain, or at least a big prediction of rain. How do you dress for the day expecting this warm or wet weather? My remedy for the crazy weather predictions is to layer your wardrobe for the cool a.m. and shed them in the p.m. lunch hours if you get a great dose of Vitamin D...fabulous! Then it's back to your cool evenings to layer back up.

Do you know what a Dala Horse is?

Well.... I love horses, and I'm half Swedish.

So the Dala horse was actually the dollar or money that Swedes started to purchase with back in the day. I just love these two love birds in this pic. Maybe they will be a house warming gift to a cousin of mine.

This is an evening of searching the www. for odds and ends.

Are we "casting all our anxiety on Him because he cares for us?" 1 Peter 5:7

In Ephesians 3:12 All this is proceeding along lines planned all along by God and the executed in Christ Jesus. When we trust in Him, we're free to say whatever needs to be said, bold to go wherever we need to go. So don't let my present trouble on your behalf get you down. Be proud!

Am I anxious? In Philippians 4: 6-7 it says "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

These verses reside in my mind the last few days more than ever.

So, Monday ( our goal of 6 weeks and 2 days after initial surgery was met!) The answer to our prayers were answered! We went in for Derek's surgery only 2 days from the plan. Besides waiting and getting a late start on surgery, the procedure went well. The external fixator came out in 5 min. and it took Dr. G an hr and a half to remove the 2 screws deep in D's ankle. Most of the pain and discomfort comes from that removal..and will prep him for a clean ankle to get fused in the near future. We'll see how Derek is with walking and returning to work and go from there.

I've had a slump of a week. Being told that I'll have weekends to work and a cut back on my schedule only opens me up for looking once again for another job. It's a real downer....let me tell you.

So I'll keep my head up and get through this one.

Keep up the prayers for a clean healing of Derek's incisions, continued bones to heal and that in 6 wks we can get a bit of walking possibly. in 2 wks we get this temp. cast off, and get a sophisticated walking boot on. This is a praise so that Derek can wash, air out and feel a bit of freedom when we can remove the boot.
